Can't believe there's a tribe dedicated to her!
I wish I had her figure at her age too!

Fri, July 22, 2005 - 9:35 AMThanks Eddie! I'll have to check out the posts. I guess I have a question for everyone. Has anyone ever seen Charo perform LIVE?
I bet she'd be great. I would especially love to listen to her play GUITAR. I love Flamenco music!

Re: I love Charo Too!
Fri, July 22, 2005 - 9:42 AMi'm not a fan of Vegas, but i would LOVE the opportunity to see Charo. She really is amazing and very misunderstood. i fell in love with her because of the Love Boat, but that show also marred her rep, too. Weird how that worked .. -

Charo and her Las Vegas Show
Saturday, August 6th
7pm
$35, $50, $75
----/ Event Description /-----------------------------------------------
Kung Pao Kosher Comedy Presents...
CHARO (for the 1st time in San Francisco in 10 years!) and her Las
Vegas Show
Charo, who will release a new Flamenco CD "Charo on Guitar" in
August, will take to the stage and both play solo flamenco guitar as
well as be accompanied by a 4-piece back-up band and 4 Las Vegas
dancers (presenting Flamenco, salsa, and Sevillanas dance) for a high
energy glitzy revue.
Born Maria Rosario Pilar Martinez Molina Baeza in Murcia, in
southeastern
Spain, she's known around the world simply as "Charo." But she's much
more
than just "cuchi cuchi." Charo is a singer, dancer, comedian,
actress, and
accomplished classical and flamenco guitarist. A guitar protege at
the age
of 9, Charo studied with Andres Segovia, the father of modern classical guitar music. She has twice been named the "Best Flamenco Guitarist
in the
World" by Guitar Player Magazine, and her flamenco-inspired CD, "Guitar Passion," went platinum and earned her the "Female Pop Album of the Year Award" at the 1995 Billboard International Latin Music Conference.
Charo is
also fluent in French, English, Italian, and Japanese, as well as her
native
Spanish.
Charo made countless appearances on numerous TV shows in the 60's and
70's.
She holds the record for the most "Love Boat" appearances (21 to be
exact);
played Aunt Charo on the sitcom "Chico and the Man;" appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show," "Laugh-In," "The Carol Burnett Show," "The Sonny and
Cher
Show," "The Brady Bunch Hour" and on talk shows such as "Johnny
Carson" and
"The Merv Griffin Show." Charo continued to guest star on numerous TV
shows
throughout the 80's and 90's; she has been a regular on Hollywood
Squares
and has recently appeared on "That 70's Show" and the reality TV
show, "The
Surreal Life."
In honor of Charo's first concert in San Francisco in 10 years and
her week-long visit to SF to promote the show, the San Francisco
Board of Supervisors will proclaim the week of August 1st "Charo
Week" in San Francisco.
